Coherent gear train (one clock)
| Wheel | Teeth | Period | Dir. |
|---|---|---|---|
| Barrel (mainspring) | 84 | 25200 s (7 h) | ccw |
| Center + minute hand | 72 / pinion 12 | 3600 s (1 h) | cw |
| Third | 60 / pinion 9 | 450 s | ccw |
| Fourth + small seconds | 60 / pinion 8 | 60 s | cw |
| Escape (15 club teeth) | 15 / pinion 12 | 12 s avg | ccw, stepped |
| Minute wheel / Hour wheel | 36 / 48 | 10800 s / 43200 s | ccw / cw |
Every mesh alternates direction. Speed ratios equal inverse tooth ratios, all derived from a single movementTime. Escape steps once per half balance period (beat 0.8 s); its 12 s mean period matches the continuous train average.
How to read it
Mainspring spiral in the barrel drives the train barrel → center → third → fourth → escape. The escape wheel is locked and released by the pallet fork, which is driven by the balance wheel. Balance oscillates ±270°, pallet rocks ±12°, escape advances one tooth (24°) per beat with a short impulse and lock. Hour hand = minute/12, second hand = minute×60 on the sub-dial.
Press Space to pause. Drag the speed slider 0.1–5× to time-lapse the whole movement at once.
