Security center
Security you can check yourself
Every control below is something you can turn on, inspect, or test from your phone. No vague promises about "bank-grade security" — just the specifics.
Encryption everywhere
TLS 1.3 for data in transit, AES-256 at rest, and hardware security modules for keys. Audited quarterly by an independent firm.
Zero liability
You're not responsible for unauthorised card or account activity you report promptly. We credit provisional funds within one business day.
Card lock
Freeze a card instantly from the app. Recurring payments keep working if you choose, or block everything until you find the card.
24/7 fraud line
A specialist answers in about four minutes, day or night. The number is on the back of your card and never changes.
Two-minute check
Eight things that stop most attacks
This is the same list our fraud team gives customers on the phone. Tick what you already do — nothing is sent anywhere, it stays in your browser.
If it happens
What to do in the first hour
Speed matters more than anything else. Most money lost to fraud is moved out within 60 minutes.
Lock the card or account
In the app: Cards → Lock. It takes three seconds and stops new charges immediately.
Call the fraud line
1-800-555-0177, 24/7. Have the last four digits of the card and the charge amount ready.
Change your password
From a device you trust. If you reused that password anywhere else, change it there too.
File a report
For identity theft, file at IdentityTheft.gov and put a freeze on your credit with all three bureaus.
Scams we see most
How to spot them in one line
"This is your bank — confirm this payment now"
We never call and ask you to read a code, move money to a "safe account", or install software. Ever. Hang up and call the number on the back of your card.
The tell: urgency plus a request to keep it secret.
"Your account is frozen — click here to verify"
Phishing emails copy our branding well but rarely our domain. Check that the sender is exactly meridian.example, not a lookalike. We won't send a login link you didn't ask for.
The tell: a link that goes somewhere other than the app you already have.
"You've won — just pay the fee"
Legitimate prizes never require a payment or a gift card. Neither does the IRS, the police, or a utility company. Any demand for gift cards is fraud, always.
The tell: paying money to receive money.
"Your new landlord asks for a deposit by wire"
Rental fraud peaks at the start of every month. Verify ownership through the county assessor's site and pay by a method you can reverse. Wire transfers are effectively final.
The tell: pressure to pay before you've seen the property in person.
"We're from tech support and found a virus"
Nobody from Microsoft, Apple, or your internet provider will cold-call you about a virus. If you've already given remote access, disconnect the machine and call us — we'll watch your accounts with you.
The tell: a stranger asking to control your computer.
